High-Street Prom Dresses Under £100

Yes, it's that time of year again... Prom season is upon us! I remember spending hours and hours searching for my perfect prom dress; one that looked expensive and fashionable, but wouldn't break the bank. So, I've decided to put together a selection of stylish, affordable dresses for under £100, hope this helps! :)

1. Missguided £40

A classic, slinky maxi dress with a cowl back and slit. A cheaper alternative to brands such as coast without compromising on style.

2. Asos £65

A chiffon maxi dress with a lace insert and halter neck. This dress looks gorgeous, especially with movement as the semi transparent overlay gives the dress an ethereal feel.

3. Chi Chi London, £70

The intricate hand embroidered lace details gives the dress an expensive look, and the colour combined with the lace, mesh and tulle fabric makes the dress look super feminine.

4. Little Mistress Petite £70

For those with a more petite frame, this dress is perfect! The small details such as the 3D floral appliqué and pleated waistband gives the dress such a pretty finish.

5. Chi Chi London £65

Also aimed at petite women, this dress is really flattering; the skater style cinches in the waist, and has a flared skirt with a layered tulle underskirt. The lace is sequin embellished which not only gives the dress a more expensive feel but also looks really pretty during the day when the light catches the sequins.

6. Asos £65

An edgy alternative to the traditional prom dress! This dress is one of my favourites from this list; the 90s neckline is bang on trend at the moment, and the crop style top and flared skirt makes the dress really flattering on almost all body types. Personally, I don't think this picture does the dress justice; when you watch the dress on the catwalk, the fit and movement of the dress is really flattering and the lace looks so expensive!

7. John Zack Petite £58

Another edgy alternative but just as stunning. This is also part of the petite range. Though there's a lot of different textures going on, it somehow just works! The lining has more of a body-con shape, whilst the main netted/lace fabric is a skater style so if you can't decide between the two styles, this dress is perfect!

(or an alternative for £48 at http://www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Lace-Mini-Prom-With-Bra-Top/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=5793513&cid=11152&Rf-800=-1,101&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=204&sort=1&clr=Black&totalstyles=538&gridsize=3)

8. Little Mistress Petite £68

A gorgeous lace and tulle maxi dress, part of the petite range. As a petite woman, it's usually so hard to find maxi dresses for my frame without the dress completely swamping me, but thanks to these petite ranges, It's now so much easier.

9. Jarlo £85

A stunning fishtail maxi dress with a high neck and lace bodice. The dainty lace and tie back details are what makes this dress so pretty.

(also available in blush at http://www.asos.com/Jarlo-Petite/Jarlo-Petite-High-Neck-Lace-Dress-With-Tie-Back/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=6011499&WT.ac=rec_viewed&CTA)

10. Little Mistress £80

One of the reasons why I chose this dress was because it reminded me so much of the dresses from Ted Baker with the subtle floral prints; I always admired Ted Baker's dresses and this dress is the perfect alternative for a fraction of the price.

11. Lipsy £68

Yet another lace dress... If you haven't noticed already, I have a bit of a lace obsession! This skater dress is super flattering and the crochet details on the neckline adds to the dainty feel.

12. Jarlo Tall £80

Last but not least, this maxi dress aimed at taller women (but is also available in petite sizes). The shoulder details are bang on trend this summer and gives the dress an elegant touch.

Top 5 Lipsticks, Balms and Lip glosses

I'm really excited to share my top 5 Lipsticks, lip balms and lip glosses as I loveee experimenting with new colours, so in no particular order....

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate in shade 107
This lipstick has a lovely deep berry red colour, perfect for parties or special occasions. You can change the intensity of the red by layering the colour for a deeper hue, or by dabbing a small amount on your lips and blotting for a stained effect which is great for everyday wear.

2. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in shade 36
This colour is a fun, bold shade of pink. I couldn't exclude this lipstick from my top five as the colour is awesome (and it smells so good, kinda like raspberries)!! It'll definitely make your lips pop and brighten up any outfit!

3. Bourjois Rouge Edition Matte Finish Velvet Lipstick in shade 07 Nude-ist
A bold, matte lipstick which I loveeee! It is a matte liquid lipstick and feels very light on the lips; I hardly notice when I've got it on, and it stays put for a long time without the need to reapply. Lots of people comment on the "weird chemical smell" but weirdly, I quite like it! It's kind of like a chemical version of berries... I don't even know how to describe it :')... Although it can be a bit tricky to apply neatly, I think the end result looks awesome!

4. Rimmel Oh My Gloss! In shade 130 Purrr... Glossy Cat
This is a great lipgloss for everyday wear. It has a subtle pink almost nude colour, with a lovely sheen to it. I find that it applies really nicely and doesn't feel as sticky as most lip glosses tend to. Though it claims to stay on for 6 hours, I find that I need to reapply every couple hours or so. It's made with Argan oil and Vitamin E, which is great for moisturising and keeping your lips soft!

5. Rimmel London Lasting Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm in shade 700 Not an Illusion
This may be one of my FAVOURITES as I wear it pretty much everyday. I've found it so hard to find a good lip balm/crayon/whatever that doesn't dry up my lips, but this is amazing. Not only does this product give you a really lovely pink colour, it also feels like butter! But not actual butter because that would just feel horrible and greasy....
The only problem is that the colour tends to fade after a couple of hours so you'd need to reapply frequently. I also like to mix different colours together and usually use this lip balm right at the end because it makes my lips feel moisturised. Finally, this smells really good... I think it smells like white chocolate...?? I can't put my finger on it! Comment below if you have this product or know what it smells like because it's really bugging me!! :')
This is the second time I've bought this lip balm as I've used up my first one. I'd DEFINITELY recommend it as it's really affordable, versatile, and easy to wear.

Lipsticks, Lip balms and Lip glosses numbers 1-5 respectively (below)

I didn't realise that the majority of these were Rimmel, but their products are so affordable and are sometimes better than the more expensive brands. Feel free to comment below, I hope this helped or inspired you in any way!

Kefalonia!

Hey there! So I know summer was a long time ago, but since this blog didn't exist back then, I decided to upload a post on it now!

During the summer, I was lucky enough to travel to the BEAUTiful Greek island, Kefalonia. The island was truly so pretty, it was like living in a postcard for 10 days! During this time, I stayed in a lovely hotel near Scala where the back of the hotel opened up to the beach/cove and we were able to snorkel and scuba dive. (Picture of the cove below) Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take pictures underwater but I wish I could show you guys... It was quite creepy!! There were chains, anchors and creepy rocks that looked like faces... although that could've been my overactive imagination :')
It was really cool to experience swimming in the open water, I'd definitely recommend it... (I kinda felt like Fleur from Harry Potter haha!) It was also nice looking at and swimming with the little fishes although I was a bit worried they'd nibble on my toes :')
I was able to go on various cruises around and off the island, visiting interesting and pretty places such as Zante, Myrtos beach, the Melisani cave, a shipwreck, and the place where Captain Corelli was filmed! Below are some pictures from my time in Greece.

Abandoned Ship

Fiskardo

Fiskardo

A little village in Greece (Fiskardo) where we bumped into Chloe Green and Philip Green!!! Any Made in Chelsea/Topshop fans out there? 🙋🏻 I didn't manage to get a picture with them as they seemed like they were in a rush, but it was cool seeing the owner of Topshop in real life!

Three boats

A random wood sculpture I saw... The original colours were beige and brown, but I altered it to make it look more abstract.

Overall, this has to be one of my favourite holidays, I'd love to come back again and visit the rest of Greece!

First Post!

Hey there, my name is Lauren and I'm currently a university student studying Fashion Design. For a long time, I've been motivated to create a blog filled with inspirational posts about fashion and art but after many, many failed, half-hearted and cringe-worthy attempts, I decided to do it properly this time!

So, this blog is called L&ve Fashion which stands for Live and Love Fashion. Kinda cheesy?? Well.. since I'm passionate about fashion, I thought it was fitting! I'll mainly be posting about fashion (surprised?) beauty, art and photography and anything else that interests me. I'll try to post once a week but... we'll see how that goes :)

I also have a blog on tumblr: http://l-vefashion.tumblr.com so be sure to check that out!
